I'm a fledgling game programmer, and let's just say graphics are my arch nemesis. I've heard that pen tablets make the work a lot easier. I've been torn between the Intuos and the Graphire. But, like you say the Intuos is more expensive, and thus out of range. It is nice to know that the Graphire works well enough for people who can actually do art, so it'll probably be enough for me!
