After I saw them, I did some checking on SC Chicago and it appears they introduced, or popularized, the idea of live music throughout an improv show.

I don't mean to sound like IA was "bad"--the cast was very, very good. Very funny, quick, and they incorporated a lot of skills. For instance, they did a whole musical scene and from experience I know that is not easy! It was just different from what I'm used to. I wouldn't mind seeing them again but honestly, $20 is far too much to pay for a non-New York non-Chicago improv show.

And they STILL haven't answered my email yet. Huh.

The fact that they have a piano goin' through the entire show makes it sound a LOT like they're trying to ape SC - or at least SC Toronto, since that's the only one I've been to. And I see they're in 3 cities where there's no Second City -- Boston, New York, LA.

I've never been keen on the SC Mainstage shows in Toronto. Too expensive, too uncomfortable, too unsatisfying. That sounds like that's what you ended up with. Thankfully, people like us know where to find the good stuff. =)
