car spoilers
I wish someone to explain to me the purpose of “spoilers” on the trunk of a car. I saw one today about 2 feet high. It was hideous, but more importantly, it probably cost heaps of money extra and if that guy has an accident I bet it’s another $2,000 to replace that useless piece of plastic.
What are they for? Do they have any actual purpose or are they just supposed to look cool?

Spoilers on street vehicles are almost exclusively for aesthetic purposes only. On race cars and high performance street cars, a spoiler improves handling and stability at high speeds. The spoiler you spotted was probably on of those Japanese pagota looking deals that are popular with the kids these days. Keep in mind that these are the same kids that wear their pants around their thighs and you’ll begin to see the logic of it all.

I don’t get that pants thing either. Seems like a good way to trip and make a fool of yourself.
Oh well, I wore bell bottoms in my hideous 1970s childhood, and thought they were stylin’, so I shouldn’t really talk.
